Compassionate Counselling
Gwen Bedey CBT & Integrative Counsellor

A warm welcome from Edinburgh, Scotland.
My Counselling approach is to work in collaboration with the client, and tailor sessions to optimise the therapeutic space, time and effectiveness of our sessions.
I have trained in Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and I integrate these modalities with my Mindfulness and Compassion practice; giving a blended approach that aims to offer the best use of therapeutic support, theory and tools.
I offer online and face to face counselling during the day and in the evenings. Initially I offer a free 20-minute online session to briefly discuss what brings you to therapy and if my approach suits you. Thereafter weekly sessions are 50 minutes long.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and adhere to their code of ethics. Also registered with ICO for protection of data.
About
Gwen Bedey
Growing up in Fife, Scotland, I developed an early interest in human development, inspired by my father’s passion for psychology. After a decade working in the clothing industry, I ran a business from home whilst raising my children. Drawn to complementary therapies, yoga, and meditation, I was fascinated by the ancient wisdom and traditions of the Himalayas where my grandmother grew up. Finding huge support for my life in Mindfulness and Compassion practices, I trained as a Mindfulness Teacher with the Mindfulness Association. Then studied Counselling at the University of Edinburgh, ‘A Dialogue between Person Centred and Psychodynamic’ which led to attaining a diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with groupwork.
I have experience of working with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, bereavement and all areas of loss, relationships, anger, fear, phobias and spirituality. Working with people aged 16 years old upwards.
